Brrrrr....

Its about to get really cold.
I've had to move all of my plants in again,
and cover the ones I couldn't move.
I'm ready for this cold to be over.
It will probably get the flowers on the tulip tree.

This weekend I started the terraced vegtable garden.Once again I had to pull up more Cast Iron plants.I guess I would have never noticed that they have flowers if I wasn't pulling them up:

Hi Amy,
We don't have a Tulip tree [AKA Saucer magnolia] but our neighbors have a big one that we enjoy. Some of the buds fell off when we had the ice storm and the others aren't open so they might be okay. But yours are so open and beautiful!! Did you cut a small branch for inside the house? Good luck with the cold snap.

No, I wish I would have.
When I read that, I wanted to run out in the dark and cut one, but I restrained myself.

All the open ones have of course turned brown, but I still have quite a few that are not completely open yet. Sometimes its good that the plants in my yard are behind everyone else's in mobile.

Hello,
I have a BIG Magnolia tree in my yard, it has bloomed already. It was in the uper 70's low 80's one week and low 30's the next. I was wondering if someone could tell me if its going to make it.
Its pretty brown and looks to be dead, Is there still hope for this wonderfu looking tree??
By the way It's in the upper 70's today...good old midwest weather...
